This concerns me!
« on: July 22, 2012, 02:05:04 pm »
I bought this attached photo off of insider sports deals. It was advertised as a Kevin Smith autographed photo. I guess I didn't pay much attention to it when I bought it. I got it yesterday and opened and looked at it more closely. The player is #85 which is Kevin Williams. Kevin Smith wore #26. I pulled out my Cowboybilia Kevin Williams auto card and it matches up perfectly with that, and not with any Kevin Smith auto cards I have. So I thought maybe only Insider Sports had made a mistake in its listing. I checked the PSA number on their authentication site. They list it as Kevin Smith as well. Now I am concerned. Did PSA not have a file copy of Kevin Smith's autograph to compare to? If they did they would have seen that it doesn't match. How quickly is PSA running these through the authentication process? Seems like someone should have caught this. I am going to email PSA and Insider Sports as well. I wonder how well PSA checked some of my other autos I have.

I am sure what happened was they just typoed the authentication when it was put in the database and when they listed it, it just went by that. I'm sure it is an authentic Kevin Williams auto though. As for the listing itself, I am also sure they will return it and make good. Keep us posted on how it goes.

Yeah I am sure it is authentic. I doubt many people are going around forging Kevin Williams autographs. It just concerns me that PSA missed it. I already read enough blogs about mistakes they have made. I have emailed insider sports and I will keep you guys up to date.

I did contact Insider Sports and they were very helpful. They gave me an email address and name. I emailed him a scan of the pic and the COA and he is suppossed to get with PSA and fix it.

Good to hear. I've heard nothing but good things about their customer service.
