3. Dallas Cowboys News Despite lackluster ending, Cowboys have arguable their best regular season in team history. With all that being said, if the Cowboys fail to advance to the NFC Championship game this weekend, most of the players and fans alike will feel the season was a major disappointment. I'm not sure I am in that same boat. This team is very young except at WR and I expect them to compete for Championships for the next 8 to 10 seasons. If they don't do that, then I will be disappointed but I can't be disappointed by what I have seen so far this year. What a fun team to watch!

Investing in Cowboy Cards One of the most popular questions I often get is how do I make money with football cards, specifically Dallas Cowboy football cards? The easy answer is buy low and sell high. Easier said than done. Just like with any investment you need to be armed with knowledge. You need to know what the value of said cards are and I am not talking about what the value Beckett says their worth, but the true value, the true selling value. I decided to start tracking some famous Cowboy cards, specifically, Dallas Cowboy Hall of Fame Rookie Cards. Lilly, Staubach, Wright, Renfro, White, Dorsett, Aikman, Irvin and Emmitt. I know Emmitt is not in the Hall of Fame yet but he's a first ballot HOFer if there ever was one. The first 6 Cowboy Hall of Famers have only 1 Rookie each that I am tracking. Aikman and Irvin have 3 and Emmitt has 5. I am tracking 17 different Hall of Fame Rookie cards. I have created a main page for this section of my site (www.cowboycards.com/HOFRookies.asp) and from there you can get to a single page for each card. Currently I have very little sales data but eventually I will have enough data to provide a good understanding of the true value of these cards. I will be using Auction houses, specifically ebay, to track these sales. I will be tracking only High Graded versions of these cards. I will use only PSA, SGC and Beckett graded cards. It would be unrealistic to track raw versions of these cards simple because of the varying degrees of conditions and the sheer qty available. Also on the card pages will be ebay listings to see if there are any deals currently available. For instance, once we have several months of data we can compare the most recent sales data to the cards currently available and possibly pick up a bargain. Eventually I would like to add a graph to display trends. I expect that all of the Hall of Fame Rookie cards will continue to grow in value but it could be valuable to see the increase in value over a period of time and how the grade greatly effects the value. I will employ 2 strategies. The first is to pick up high end, graded cards of the first 6 Hall of Famers with Rookie cards from the 60s and 70s and watch the value of these cards grow. the trick is to continuously upgrade your cards by selling lower grades in order to buy higher grades and eventually having the highest grade available. My second strategy will be used mainly on Aikman, Irvin and Emmitt. Because of the availability of these cards, it is more profitable to buy these cards raw and in bulk. I can then determine the best ones to be graded and sell off the rest. You can see what I have in mind by visiting http://www.cowboycards.com/hofrookies.asp |
