Charlie Waters Dallas Cowboy football cards

Charlie Waters, DB from Clemson University, was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 3rd round of the 1970 NFL Draft. Charlie struggled to play corner back in the NFL but was always able to make huge plays. He became an All Pro once he moved to the safety position that he helped anchor along with Cliff Harris. Charlie played 11 seasons in the NFL with the Cowboys and never experienced a loosing season and in fact only missed the playoffs 1 time during that span. He played in 5 Super Bowls and helped the Cowboys win 2. He made 3 Pro Bowls. He holds the NFL record for most playoff interceptions with 9 including 3 in one game. Charlie retired after the 1981 season as the Cowboys all time leader with 41 interceptions and 584 return yards and 2 touchdowns. After his playing days were over, Charlie went into coaching. He eventually made his way up the ladder to defensive coordinator with the Denver Broncos and helped the Broncos reach the Super Bowl in 1989. After 7 seasons in Denver, Charlie was released and he moved to Oregon to be the defensive coach with the Oregon Ducks (NCAA). After only season in Oregon, Charlie quit coaching all together and moved back to Dallas. He went to work in Dallas in the Gas and Electric and helped co author a book with teammate Cliff Harris titled Tales from the Dallas Cowboys
. In 2006 Charlie worked with the Dallas Cowboys Radio Network as the color commentator for Dallas Cowboy football games.
Charlie Waters did a commercial for United Way back in the 1970s where he spoke about his father having a Heart Attack in the Orange Bowl stands while watching Charlie and the Dallas Cowboys play the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl X.
