Eugene Lockhart, LB from the University of Houston, was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 6th round of the 1984 NFL Draft. Eugene, fondly nicknamed the 'hitting machine', quickly became a dominant player on a sub par team. Eugene played for the Cowboys during a low time of the franchise but was a bright spot on an otherwise dismal team. He led the Cowboys in tackles for several years and set a team record with 222 tackles in 1989. made the Pro Bowl in 1989 and 1990. He played for the Cowboys for 7 seasons and then finished his career with 2 seasons in New England with the Patriots. Eugene played in the NFL for 9 seasons, recorded 16 sacks, 6 interceptions (1 returned for a TD) and close to 1,000 tackles.
