Jay Novacek Dallas Cowboy football cards
Jay Novacek, TE from the University of Wyoming, was drafted in the 6th round of the 1985 NFL draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. Jay saw little action for the Cardinals until 1988 when he caught 38 passes for 569 yards. After the 1989 season, Jay signed with the Dallas Cowboys and became one of the most prolific Tight Ends in the game. In 1991, Jay started a string of 5 straight Pro Bowl appearances. He helped the Cowboys to playoff appearances each season and helped the win 3 Super Bowls during the early part of the 1990s. Jay was a major element in the Cowboys top Offense catching over 40 passes every season he played in Dallas. At the end of the 1995 season, Jay had to retire due to injuries but he had played in the NFL for 11 seasons, catching 422 passes for 4, 630 yards and 29 touchdowns. Add to that 62 catches during the Post Season with 645 yards and 6 touchdowns and you can easily see why Jay is widely considered one of the best Tight Ends during the decade of the 1990s.
