Roy Williams Dallas Cowboy football cards
Roy Williams, All American safety from the University of Oklahoma, was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 1st round of the 2002 NFL draft. A lot was expected from this hard hitting safety and Roy did not disappoint. He stepped into a starting role his rookie season and recorded 2 touchdowns on 5 interceptions. He was a Pro Bowler by his 2nd season and solidified himself as one of the top Safeties in the league. Roy Williams was a consistent force in the middle of the Cowboys defense from 2002 through the 2007 season. He was named to the NFC Pro Bowl for 5 consecutive seasons and was named to the All Pro team in 2003. An injury sidelined Roy for almost the entire 2008 season. At the end of the 2008 season, the Dallas Cowboys cut ties with their All Pro Safety. Roy landed in Cincinnati with the Bengals. Roy played another 3 years in Cincinnati but was never able to regain the form he had in his early days with the Cowboys that made him the top safety in the league. Roy retired from the NFL after the 2010 season having recorded 20 interceptions, returning 3 for TDs and made 472 tackles. After his retirement, Roy took a job with his alma mater, the Oklahoma Sooners.
